How to Teach in the Internet Age: New Info Space Changes Learning

A most serious issue of Russian higher education is the professor and the student existing in different info spaces. Students’ info competency is currently higher than that of the faculty. The new generation living in the Internet needs other info delivery forms. One cannot work in the forefront of science with no access to e-libraries.

The very teaching process is changing swiftly within one generation. The faculty enjoys new opportunities for creative teaching methodology. The “On-line Professor” contest from the Potanin Charity Foundation helps most proactive academicians set up their own web sites on ongoing teaching. The grantees boast free access to most manuals and educational materials to make the new resource interesting for both students from other universities and the peer faculty.
